Most Expensive Player in Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2017
Question in detailKings XI Punjab, the side to finish bottom of the table last season, seeks reversal of fortune this year by releasing some of their flop players, making some new buys, and yes changing their captain too. At the auction held in Bengaluru last month, Kings XI Punjab bought 8 players with four of them being the foreigners. KXIP's international players in IPL 10, which they bought this year include Eoin Morgan from England (Rs 2 crore), Matt Henry from New Zealand (Rs 50 lakh), Martin Guptil from New Zealand (Rs 50 lakh) and Darren Sammy from West Indies (Rs 30 lakh). And the other four buys are Indians. Surprisingly, uncapped T Natrajan, who got a whooping of Rs 3 crore, became the most expensive player in Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2017. Varun Aron was bought at Rs 2.8 crore, Rahul Tewatia got Rs 25 lakh, and Rinku Singh received Rs 10 lakh.
With Morgan and Henry's addition, the team has got the coveted balance. While Matt Henry will be seen leading the pace attack along with Varun Aron, Morgan will strengthen the middle order. Morgan is probably the player each team longs him to be with them. 25-year old T Natrajan from Tamil Nadu, the most expensive player in Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2017 will have a lot on his shoulders to meet up with Punjab's expectation.
David Miller, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell and Hashim Amla are some of KXIP's international players in IPL 10, who can change the course of the match single handedly provided they are at their best. The least Punjab will expect from their players is to play as a competent unit.
Each team in IPL 2017 is capable enough to claim the title, but then a lot will depend on how they play as a unit. When it comes to Kings XI Punjab this IPL season, they are a pretty good side not just on paper but on field. So far across all seasons, the team has been quite inconsistent. They had a drastic last season, which they finished bottommost with just four wins. The reasons of their nagging failures have been the dearth quality players and captaincy woes. Punjab in this IPL season looks a strong side as they have explosive batsmen, quality pacers, magical spinners and promising all-rounders in their roster. Will Maxwell revive Punjab's fortune? This is yet to be seen.
Will Kings XI Punjab see reversal of fortune under their new captain Glenn Maxwell this IPL season?
