From South division, Middlesex has had a disappointing journey in the Natwest T20 Blast so far. In the opening season (2014) of the largest league, they won 2 out of their 14 games finishing bottom of the table with 5 points. Story remained the same in the next season (2015) as well; a mere of 4 wins in accounts were quite insufficient to lead them to the playoffs.
The side had a rather respectable ending to their campaign in the preceding season, which saw them playing 2nd quarterfinal against Northamptonshire. However, unfortunately it turned out to be their last match of the season as a result of a 7-wicket defeat. Now coming into the new season, Middlesex would be eyeing a fresh start to their campaign unlike the first three seasons where they were drastically failed to leave an impression. The opener of the tournament, also the first match of the Middlesex fixtures in Natwest T20 2017 will see Gloucestershire up against McCullum-led side. Thrill will be at its extreme when the two teams lock horns for the opener of the tournament at College Ground, Cheltenham.
Led by former NZ's batsman Brendon McCullum, Middlesex has also got Tim Southee's boost to their already brutal pace attack. MuCullum, as a captain, will be working under his ex-teammate Daniel Vettory who has been appointed as the Middlesex's coach. The trio of MuCullum, Southee and Vettory is supposed lead the side to new heights.
