Rajasthan Royals: Ben Stokes Highest Paid Player in IPL 2018
Question in detail
Highest paid player in IPL 2018: The IPL 2018 auction, wherein franchises broke the bank, turned out to be a big pay day for the players. One who enjoyed the bidding war most is Ben Stokes and the reason to his glee is the price that he fetched during the auction. The English all-rounder hits the jackpot finding the highest bidder in the second consecutive edition. Rajasthan Royals on the first day of the auction signed the handyman at INR 12.50 Crore. And this price makes Stokes the most expensive players in IPL 2018.
Next to Stokes are Jaydev Unadkat, Lokesh Rahul and Manish Pandey who also fetched an amount of INR 11 Crore or more. The left-arm pacer Unadkat is sold at a whooping price of Rs 11.5 Crore. With bidding price of Rs 11 Crore each, Rahul and Pandey jointly sit 3rd on the list of most expensive players in IPL 2018.
Last year Stokes was bought by Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) at Rs 14.5 Crore. An average of 31.6 that he batted to score 316 runs in 12 matches was not really something worth Rs 14.5 Crore. However, when combined with 12 wickets at an economy of 7.18, Stokes well paid off the price as a complete performer for RPS. Stokes debut IPL season got him enough accolades as an individual performer.
Now coming down to this edition, Stokes again emerges as the highest paid player in IPL 2018. The least Rajasthan Royals will be hoping from their highest buy is a similar sort of performance Stokes gave in the last season. Let's wait and watch how Stokes fares with bat and ball this IPL edition.
Will Ben Stokes (the highest paid player in IPL 2018) pay off the price RR spent to sign him?
