Team India's New ODI and T20 Captain
Question in detail
With MS Dhoni calling it quits as limited-over captain on Wednesday, Virat Kohli comes as the most proposed name to become the next captain of team India. Having the ball in his court by itself, Kohli needs no pleading, no solicitation or no good word to claim the captaincy. His leading skills in Test cricket are itself a living example of how capable he is to lead the team! Much of the chorus lauding in Kohli's favor as India's new ODI and T20 captain is the result of his unbeaten Test-streak which he has extended to 19 matches now after conquering England in the last Test played at Chennai. So, Virat Kohli is most likely to be new Indian captain. Though BCCI has three possible captaincy options in team India, Kohli is best of all at present even if the voting takes place.
Dhoni's resignation from limited-over captaincy comes more a bolt from the blue than a formal decision one takes. However, what comes as a reason of Dhoni's sudden fallback is his intent to play 2019 World Cup which he can't dream of given his blunt captaincy in the bygone year or so. Now after calling it quits, all his focus will be on batting and wicket keeping rather than captaincy, which he thinks is an added responsibility. Yes, it is! When considering the available captaincy options in team India, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane are a few names to join the list next to current Test captain Virat Kohli. No wonder if Virat Kohli becomes India's new ODI and T20 captain.
Who will become India's new ODI and T20 captain after MS Dhoni?
