Most Expensive Player in IPL Season 10
Question in detail
The 10th edition of Indian Premiere League (IPL) is set to kick start from April 3rd. But, players' auction before the cash-rich league has much more to catch our attention. As many as 799 players have enrolled their names for IPL 2017 auction, which is scheduled to be held on Feb 20th. 160 of 799 players in the first list are capped from countries barring Pakistan and Bangladesh. Also, 24 of them are capped Indian with a base price of Rs 30 Lakh. The only Indian to be placed in the highest bracket (2 Crore) is veteran pacer Ishant Sharma.
As IPL 2017 auction is reaching its due date, franchises are eyeing to bag the right player so that they can strike a balance in their squad, no matter how much it costs. The dynamic nature of IPL auction makes it difficult to predict who will find the highest bidder. However, a glance at the base price of some of the players can make the prediction much easier. Here's whose bidding price will start from Rs 2 Crore (the highest base price) and whose from 1.5 Crore (the second highest base price). A total of 7 players have been kept in the top bracket. And these include three English players, two Australians, one Indian and one Sri Lankan. Other than this, second highest bracket which starts from Rs 1.5 Crore has six international players.
The English players who have a base price of worth Rs 2 Crore include Morgan, Stokes and Woakes. Mitchell Johnson and Pat Cummins are from Australia to join the list. Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews is also one whose bidding will start from Rs 2 Crore. Though each of these players is competent enough with his assigned role in the team, all-rounder Ben Stokes is one who can become the most expensive player in IPL season 10. Why? A quality hitter, a sharp pacer and a sporty fielder, Stokes is a complete package in the shortest format of the game. Additionally, he is undergoing a superb form these days.
The bracket of INR 1.5 Crore has six international players, including Johnny Bairstow, Trent Boult, Jason Holder, Kyle Abbott, Nathan Lyon and Brad Haddin. Since these players have the potential to change the course of match single-handedly, it would come as no wonder if any of them becomes the most expensive player in IPL season 10.
Which international player will find the highest bidder in IPL 2017 auction?
