Delhi All Rounder JP Duminy Ruled Out of IPL 10
Question in detail
South Africa's all-rounder JP Duminy ruled out of IPL season 10 two weeks before the league. Daredevil's chief executive Hemant Dua endorsed Duminy's withdrawal on Monday saying we respect his decision as a franchise. But, in reality it's a matter of disappointment for us, he added. However, he didn't elaborate the exact reason why JP Duminy left IPL 2017. The franchise hasn't also named a replacement for him yet.
Duminy cites personal reason behind his decision. But, as speculated, he wants to focus his national assignment in the near future. South Africa has to tour England for a three-match ODI series in May before the Champions Trophy. Irrespective of why JP Duminy left IPL 2017, Daredevils will have to find a like-for-like replacement for him.
Duminy has been with Delhi Daredevils since 2014. Also, he has captained Daredevils in two matches last year. A valuable player in the shortest format, Duminy is the fifth highest scorer for the side. For Delhi, he has scored 1015 runs in 38 matches at a strike rate of near 131.
Delhi Daredevils were already sweating on the availability of Angelo Mathews who suffered a hamstring injury during the second T20 against South Africa in January. And now JP Duminy ruled out of IPL season 10. If Angelo Mathews doesn't recover his injury prior to IPL, this would be double blow to Delhi's side.
Is that why JP Duminy withdraws himself from IPL season 10?
